On the 28th July we were honoured to be able to show our support from the sidelines as Southwark Stars debuted their new 2024-2025 season kits.
Southwark Stars use the power of football to provide life-changing experiences for adults with a learning disability and have quickly become pioneers in disability football.
The club is celebrating their first-ever sponsorship deal, as they continue to champion the inclusion of disabled people in football and society.
The sponsorship and new kit feel like a breakthrough moment for Southwark Stars and disability football, with founder Louis Wickett-Padgham explaining:
“People with learning disabilities are underrepresented and disability football is often overlooked and forgotten.”
“Since officially affiliating as a football club in 2019, we’ve wanted our players’ achievements to be recognised and disability football to be seen and heard.”
Commenting on why Nexus Connect | Pioneer Search wanted to play their part, Mark Warburton commented:
“When I was looking to launch our Community Networking Hub Nexus Connect, I wanted to find a worthy cause to support, one that was aligned to our purpose led community.
When I came across the Southwark Stars Disability FC, it was clear from day one that this was the right partnership!
Located just 5 minutes from our HQ, when we heard about the club’s story, background of the players, and the vital role the club plays in their weekly life and wellbeing, it was one of those hairs standing up on the back of your neck moments.
